Ever wondered how windows are cleaned on skyscrapers?
Hi-Rise construction uses lot’s of glass. There are many advantages to this, from increasing the amount of natural light to those inside as well as the aesthetic appeal.
However, it also requires a commitment to keeping the glass clean and this can present challenges, in particular where the building itself is unusually constructed (e.g. a domed glass roof).
Rope Access cleaning (a.k.a Abseil window cleaning) is often an ideal solution to commercial window cleaning.
It’s flexible and fast and a cost-effective method to ensure that windows are clean no matter how high they are located.
Rope Access Window Cleaning – how is it done?
IRATA trained professionals use standard industry low stretch kernmantle ropes to descend or ascend the outside of the building.
They use equipment on their harnesses such as a descender and back up device.
All ropes are attached to abseil safety points, whether it is eyebolts, dead weight anchors or the building structure.
Other uses for Rope Access
Of course rope access or abseiling can also offer many other uses beyond cleaning windows – high level cleaning and cladding cleaning are just two examples but it is also ideal for building safety surveying and concrete inspections
