Safety Defect Survey on a Multi-Storey Car Park

PROBLEM

Falling masonry, cracked block glazing to stairwells, dislodged window cappings to lobby area.

LOCATION OF PROBLEM

Whole perimeter of car park at Birmingham International Airport, all stair wells, lift lobby area.

SOLUTION

Complete Access utilised a Team of two Rope Access IRATA Level 3’s to carry out a full defect survey identifying each location where loose cladding /masonry had occurred or had the potential to dislodge.

Glass bocks on the stair wells had cracks and had filled with rain water, this had potential to freeze and expand, creating risks to the public, we created drain holes to release the water.

New window cappings were also installed to surround the glazing to the lift lobby area. All works were carried out without any disruption to Airport users.
