We have just completed an in-depth cladding inspection to a large residential complex in Wolverhampton.
There are three buildings that required our expert Rope Access Surveyors to undertake the condition survey over the space of two weeks.
Primarily, large sections of cladding had been blown off during Storm Darragh in December 2024, so it was decided by the building management to undertake a full and comprehensive safety and condition survey of the whole site.
A desktop drawing was produced to reference abseil drop plans so reporting of defects could easily be produced i.e. Drop, Floor, Location, Element and Type.
During the inspection, our Rope Access Surveyors reported on the integrity of the vertical and horizontal cladding, general fixing details and defects, integrity of window trickle vents.
Once completed, a comprehensive report was submitted to the client withing 24 hours of completion of the inspection.
Now for the repair works!!
Cladding Inspections using Rope Access methods
Cladding Inspection using Rope Access” refers to the process of examining the condition of a building’s exterior cladding (wall panels) by having trained technicians access the facade using rope access techniques, essentially abseiling down the building to reach and inspect hard-to-reach areas that would be difficult or costly to access with traditional scaffolding methods; this allows for a thorough assessment of the cladding’s integrity, identifying any damage, defects, or potential safety concerns without major disruption to the building occupants or operations.
Using this method is extremely cost effective compared to other forms of access ie MEWP or Scaffold although these methods do have their place in Industry, they don’t compare to the overall speed and efficiency of using Rope Access.
