We have just carried out several Pull-Out Tests to Hilti Resin Anchors at Edgbaston Hospital in Birmingham.

We were approached from a large construction company to undertake the testing to M16 170mm Hilti threaded rods that had been installed previously using Hilti Chemical Resin HY170. The anchors were installed to hold a steel frame to support a medical autoclave machine.

We were given a specification from the system designer to proof load test the anchors to 5.5Kn for a duration of 30 seconds each.

We used our Staht t25 pull out tester to carry out the tests inserting an M16 threaded disc over the threaded rods.

All anchors passed the pull-out test.

What is Pull Testing?

Pull testing is a method for verifying the strength and adhesion of fixings, anchors. This process ensures that installed components can bear the recommended loads without risk of failure.

Pull Out / Pull Off testing is essential for maintaining safety, compliance with relevant standards, ensuring structural reliability.

It is critical in preventing accidents caused potentially by anchor or fixture failure. Selection, Design and Installation using BS 8539 guidance is Best Practice for compliance.
