We were recently tasked to undertake a Building Defect Survey using Rope Access to the most iconic development in Birmingham City Centre – The Rotunda.
Reports were received about spalling of the mosaic façade. We deployed two of our IRATA Level 3’s to carry out the initial defect survey.
Our findings were drafted up and a detailed drop plan and location of defects found were recorded. Dimensions and type of defect were also added to the report for the client to pin point exactly where repairs or further investigation was needed, which in this case there were.
We carried out a number of tests to determined concrete cover, retrieved a concrete sample from each location and carried out a carbonation test. All sample areas were repaired and our findings were recorded and added to the final report.
